Improving your quality of life… how to manage it

Have you ever thought that your life could be more beautiful, less routine and constraining? Where the days wouldn’t be ordered by an overwhelming “metro-work-to-sleep” type of rhythm. That you would like to significantly improve your quality of life.

But why can’t we change that?

It’s true that in our modern society, everything is conditioned to force us to work, whether at the office or at home, to keep on doing household chores. There is always something else to do… and when we finally get to the end of so much work, it is already time to go to bed. We don’t even have time to breathe, because we’ll have to be up and running the next day to face another exhausting day.

And this spiral repeats itself over and over again, leading us to stop thinking about the meaning of our life, to stop thinking about ourselves, to stop thinking about myself. To drift away from that longed-for quality of life. Ah yes, it’s true! We still take the time to think about ourselves, once a year, on Good Resolutions Day. That’s when, out of habit and without realizing it, we take the time to freeze-frame… very briefly… to take stock of the past year and to look forward to better days. But very quickly, society puts us back on the right track and conditions our brains in a lethargic mode.

And yet, we have all heard our wise ancestors tell us that life is short and that we must enjoy it while there is still time. That we must not wait until it is too late to realize our dreams. That we should not do as they did, who without telling us, all regret not having dared to change the course of their lives one day.

Let us not wait to be in our turn these ancestors who tell their grandchildren beautiful nostalgic stories.Let’s enjoy life and the beautiful things it has to offer us.

That’s all well and good, but how can I improve my quality of life?

It’s true that not everything is easy and that you have to make some effort to improve your quality of life. But with a little motivation and a lot of desire, nothing is impossible.

Look at this family that has gone to a new life experience with its children in an unknown country. This young couple leaving with a backpack, without money, to discover the world. Or this sailing enthusiast who leaves everything behind and lets his boat take him on a voyage of discovery through new landscapes and cultures.

What connects all these people is that they have all, at some point in their lives, decided to get out of the spiral of daily routine. They wanted to regain control of their lives. They wanted to live their dreams!

And me, what can I do to improve my quality of life?

The main reason why we find it hard to get out of our routine is that it reassures us. Repeating things every day gives us a sense of security in our family cocoon. It’s our comfort zone.

On the other hand, change projects us into the unknown and the unknown inspires fear and insecurity. We must learn to tame change.

In fact, you can find out how to do this by reading our article:How to deal with the change of life and make it a better one“.

Changes are an integral part of life. It is therefore best to think of change as an opportunity to learn something new, to take initiative and to innovate. In a way, you have control over it rather than being subjected to it.

Because by doing new things, by taking on new challenges, we are actors in the actions that will lead to the desired results. In this way, we increase our self-esteem and confidence in our ability to climb mountains. And we’re almost there. Because we have just taken a big step towards the quality of life we aspire to.

“When you discover that you are able to recognize and appreciate change, you don’t see things the same way anymore”.

All right, but then where do we actually start?

It’s not all going to change overnight. It’s gonna take some time. Change, yes, but not drastically. Remember, you have to stay in control of your life. So go at your own speed.

There are lots of simple tricks you can do to significantly improve your quality of life:

Take your time

  • Give yourself a moment in the day to be with yourself.
  • Settle down in a comfortable place where you can relax.
  • Take a few deep breaths and relax.
  • Use this time to reflect on the things you’ve done lately that you’re proud of and congratulate yourself on accomplishing them.
  • Imagine the next steps you would like to take in your life for your personal growth.
  • Visualize the happiness this would bring you and enjoy the moment.

Get organized

  • It’s not going to happen by itself, and not just yet.
  • You have to organize a minimum.
  • Start by identifying the things you would like to change in your life.
  • Prioritize your next goals.
  • Set a deadline for achieving each of your wishes.
  • Don’t get overwhelmed. Stay focused on your personal commitments. Nothing should get in the way of your happiness.

Surround yourself with reliable and trustworthy people

  • No one succeeds in life alone.
  • Human beings are made to live in community.
  • But it is up to you to choose the people with whom you wish to share the moments of your life.
  • Take the time to get to know the people who will become your confidants and who, like you, will always be there when you need them.
  • Don’t neglect your loved ones. They are one of the main arteries of your life.

A healthy mind in a healthy body

  • This adage may seem a bit boring, but it has its full place in the quest for a better quality of life.
  • We’re not talking about performance, we’re talking about setting things in motion.
  • The most important thing is to take care of your body and put it into action regularly and with pleasure.
  • If you are not particularly motivated by the practice of sports activities, try to have someone accompany you. Together, we help each other and train each other to go further, to surpass and surprise each other.

Dare

  • Be bold! Do the things you never dared to do before.
  • Cover each other’s eyes.
  • Only your personal experience counts. It is your personal experience that will bring you the happiness you are looking for.

Live your emotions every second

  • Emotions are the engine of a life.
  • Live your emotions. Savour them every second.
  • They will allow you to go further, to push you to experience new ones even more intense and invigorating.

Take care of yourself

  • It is often the most difficult, but the central point to ensure a good quality of life.
  • Being good with oneself is the essential condition to be able to be good with others and bring them what we expect from any relationship.
  • Congratulate yourself for having accomplished so many beautiful things in your life.
  • Treat yourself to small pleasures every day.

And if you’re ready to take the plunge…

If for you the quest for a better quality of life means a greater change in your life. By the discovery of new horizons, new people, a more suitable place to live to make you happy. By the discovery of a new dream destination that suits your sensitivity and personality.

To help you discover your new piece of paradise, you can read the article we have written entitled:How do I choose my dream destination“.

Perhaps during one of your trips in the sun or simply by watching a television program you have made the reflection :

“Ah, how nice it would feel to be there. The people who live there are lucky to live in this dream destination! ».

It’s true that it would be nice there, but you quickly turned back, either because you didn’t dare to take the step (fear of change) or rather because there was always a small grain of sand that prevented you from taking the plunge:

  • Distance too far away from your loved ones
  • Country’s precarious health system
  • Country’s insecure.

“The sharpest projects often fall through because people don’t take the risk of going overboard”.

Wanting to understand why so many people have the dream of living in a paradise, but in the end very few make it come true, we initiated a survey.

We wanted to find out what were the main obstacles to their project and what were the indispensable criteria that could encourage them to go through with it.

Why I’m dreading leaving and what are the necessary conditions for considering it?

We were able to gather responses from over 500 people.

Here is the information that emerged:

The brakes to not settling in my dream destination

“I don’t know this country well”

The fear of the unknown has resurfaced! It’s finally quite normal, but you can easily reduce this fear, which could affect your desire to see your quality of life improve drastically. Simply start by getting information on the Internet. There is a multitude of information on the net. Discover the different regions and their landscapes. Look for testimonials from people who live there. Take advantage of their experiences and don’t hesitate to contact them to ask questions. People who have had a great experience are always ready to share it with others. Then go to the place and see by yourself. This way, you can quickly convince yourself whether or not you have found your dream destination.

“I don’t know anyone there”

For the first few days this may well be the case. But if you have initiated contacts with people on the spot beforehand, certainly they will be able to introduce you to their circle of friends and thus facilitate the first contacts. Or don’t hesitate to get in touch with people in your neighbourhood. Everyone knows the difficulties that a newcomer has to face and is ready to help him or her feel good about their neighbourhood.

“I’m not sure I’ll be able to integrate successfully”.

The first piece of advice to give you: take language courses as soon as you arrive or if possible before. There is no better way to integrate than to be able to exchange with the inhabitants of your adopted country. Then, integrate little by little into one or the other association and participate in local life. Very quickly, you will feel at home.

“I’m not sure I’ll find a job again.”

You undoubtedly have abilities and skills that could be useful to a future employer. Do not limit yourself to the professional activities you have carried out so far. Look further and observe the most common occupations in your host country and those that could be deployed. And if you think you have an entrepreneurial streak, anything is possible…

The necessary conditions to consider living in my dream destination

A low cost of living

Certainly, to enjoy an optimal quality of life, it is preferable to be in a place where life is financially affordable. A place where you don’t necessarily have to have a large income to enjoy life’s little pleasures. This contributes to a greater sense of freedom and well-being.

A sunny and temperate climate

It is well known that light and sunshine promote a good mood and increase the possibilities for outdoor activities. It is therefore normal that we are all looking for sunshine and if possible as often as possible during the year. Even if, like everything else, we should not overuse it.

Security

The feeling of security is also a fundamental criterion for feeling good wherever you are. Leaving home without apprehension or coming home late at night without fearing anything has become rare or even impossible nowadays. And it is quite normal that we seek to find this peace and quiet in our daily lives.

The health care system

Even if in our countries it seems normal to us to benefit from efficient and modern health infrastructures, this is by far not the case everywhere in the world. It is therefore understandable that we are looking for a place where the quality of care is proven and accessible both from a financial point of view and in terms of speed of patient care.

Mobility

Getting around quickly and easily is an essential criterion for a good quality of life. Even better if you have a choice between several environmentally friendly means of transport.

Good gastronomy

The pleasures of the table are among the best moments in life. So you might as well live them with a healthy, varied and tasty diet in the presence of your loved ones.

The possibility of practicing a wide variety of activities

Always have a lot to choose from, never stand still! Yes, it’s also important to be able to indulge in your favourite hobbies, or even better, to discover new ones. They will help you stay in good shape and also extend your circle of friends.

Being surrounded by smiling and welcoming people

The good mood is communicative and contagious! It helps you feel good about yourself and conveys a positive state of mind. It is the essential basis for receiving and spreading goodwill around you.

But then where is this dream destination that can meet all these criteria?

Dear readers, I have good news for you. I have found that dream destination. After many journeys around the world, crossing oceans and discovering faraway places, I finally set foot in this coveted country. And to tell you the truth, it wasn’t that far away.

So come and discover it with me. I will present it to you in detail and make you feel the irresistible urge to go there without delay.

Do you want to improve your quality of life? Then get ready! Rejoice! Think about it, yes, think about it seriously. Because the moment is approaching. Don’t wait for time to catch up with you, or you’ll regret it one day.
